Scroll through the list of NCAA conferences. Clicking on one of the conference logos will bring up information about that region, including the schools currently listed as members.
Data was gathered by compiling the top 20 ranked schools (1980 - 2013) for the three listed sports, weighting their ranking, and attaching the team's conference. The top team was awarded 20 points, the next team 19, and so on down to the 20th ranked team, which received 1 point.
Treemaps were generated based on these scores. Clicking on a region in a treemap will zoom into that section to reveal subcategories. Click on the area just above the treemap to zoom out.
Conference tabs show which conferences have fared the best in a given sport. Clicking an individual conference shows the number of points per year, seeing how a conference's trajectory has changed over time. The more area a conference/school takes up within a given section, the more points it scored.
The Year tab allows you to zoom in on a particularly interesting season and see what conferences did the best, and how much the ranked teams factored into it. Note that years are not shown chronologically, but proceed left-to-right from the highest point years to the lowest point years.
In the Top 50: Combined tab, points are allocated to schools from all three sports, showing what teams are the largest athletic powerhouses in football, basketball, and baseball, from 1980 to today.
